Snarks are among the least comfortable entries in the Bestiary. Guild research suggests that they may begin life as Snaplings before undergoing a severe transformation: wings collapse into limbs, tails are lost, jaws and teeth enlarge and the creature becomes fully carnivorous.

They are particularly dangerous around Snap colonies, where they prey upon eggs and newly hatched young. No single cause has been established. Hunger, isolation, cannibalism and even interference from mature Snarks have all been proposed.

For now, their relationship to Snap Dragons remains a disturbing theory rather than a settled fact.
