Dodlings
Dodlings are the smallest recorded form of the Dodmen: young shell-bearers not yet carrying the weathered character of their elders.
Their journeys are correspondingly shorter, though no less deliberate, and they tend to remain close to damp ground, shelter and other Dodmen. Their shells are associated with the same old luck carried by mature forms, though a Dodling has not yet accumulated the history of roads and gatherings that gives an elder its particular character.
They are reminders that even the longest journey begins with something very small deciding to move.
