Purple Hypno Snarks appear to have solved one of the great inconveniences of being a predator: having to actually chase anything.

Rather than stalking Snaplings in the usual way, this form seems able to hold their attention and draw them closer. Hunters describe affected Snaplings becoming unusually calm, distracted or simply wandering towards the Snark as though they have forgotten there might be a reason not to.

Whether this is genuine hypnosis is debatable. The eyes are certainly difficult to ignore, but I suspect the Snark itself is less interested in the mechanics than we are.

The important part is that it works.

Once a Snapling has been lured close enough, the Snark barely needs to move.

Which, I imagine, was exactly the point.

Evolution occasionally produces elegance.

Other times it produces something purple, lazy and extremely pleased with itself.
