Night

Night is an Aspect of narrow margins. It gathers in the strip of darkness between hedgerow and road, in the stillness after a hunt, in the moment when a torch goes out and your eyes have not yet adjusted. Beasts of the Night are patient things. They move at the edges of lantern light, wait at gateways and bridges, and are most often felt as a presence just behind your shoulder.

Hunters argue fiercely about which Beasts truly belong to Night and which should be claimed by Sky. A creature seen under a clear moon might be logged as Sky by one Guild recorder and Night by another, and the ledger is full of crossed out entries and quiet corrections. Some beasts seem to slide between the two Aspects, marked by starlight one season and by shadow the next.

What can be agreed upon is this. Beasts of the Night favour thresholds, towpaths and quiet lanes, places where a single step can take you from familiar ground into something less certain. They are drawn to unfinished stories, to the unsaid and the unlit, and they are most active when even the cities fall quiet.

As with all Aspects, the boundaries are still under study. Here we have gathered those Beasts most often witnessed at nightfall, in moonlight or in the deep hours when most hunters would rather be home.
