Brown Shelled Dodmen are easy to underestimate, mostly because they look like they have already given up on the idea of being noticed.

They favour mud, leaf litter, old gardens and the sort of paths that never quite dry out properly. Their shells are dark, plain and practical, which probably tells you more about them than any amount of Guild theorising ever will.

They move slowly, but not aimlessly. I have watched one take the better part of an afternoon to cross a garden and still somehow end up exactly where it wanted to be.

Whether the brown shell is inherited or simply the result of spending too long pressed against wet earth is unresolved. Personally, I think we have a habit of overcomplicating these things.
