Skipper is a Snap Dragon shaped by design rather than decay. Its form draws from the winged figure above Norwich’s Royal Arcade and from the work of architect George Skipper, whose buildings helped give the city some of its most distinctive character. Unlike many architectural Snaps, Skipper shows no sense of erosion or ruin. Its lines are deliberate, its form intact and its posture unusually proud. It does not appear to imitate something ancient or weather-worn.

Instead, it reflects architecture as an act of imagination: the belief that buildings could be beautiful, playful and capable of making people look upwards. The form was recorded in tribute to Skipper’s legacy in Norwich, including the Royal Arcade and Jarrolds. Its strong connection to civic design, streetscape and human creativity places it firmly within the City Aspect.
