Some roads are best avoided.
Others...
Lead straight to the Beastly Trading Post.
From Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August, we'll once again be pitching up at the Fisher Theatre, Bungay, bringing with us an assortment of strange Beasts, curious relics and one particularly infamous hound.
Whether you've followed the Guild for years or have simply wandered into Bungay in search of Black Shuck, we'd be delighted to welcome you.
The Best and Only Official Black Shuck Festival Statue
Accept no substitutes.
The Black Shuck returns with an all-new sculpt, created exclusively for Black Shuck Festival 2026.
Not rearing.
Not howling.
Instead, he prowls forward through smoke and flame, with all four handsome paws firmly on the ground.
Each statue has been individually hand-painted, individually numbered and boxed blind.
Only 100 exist.
Some are common.
Some are decidedly less so.
One has yet to appear in the Guild's records...
Keeping close to his paws is the elusive Shuckling, also returning with an all-new sculpt, available throughout the weekend while stocks last.
The Beastly Trading Post
For three days, the old Trading Post will once again open its doors.
Inside you'll find far more than Black Shuck.
Snaps of every imaginable colour.
Curious Snaplings weaving between them.
Dodmen gathering before the Great Dodmoot.
The occasional Snirk.
Perhaps even a Snark, if it can be persuaded to stay in one place long enough.
Every Beast has been individually crafted and is waiting for the right keeper to take it home.
The Black Shuck Festival Trail
Every day throughout the festival, the Guild will be sending hunters out into Bungay.
Simply collect a free Festival Trail leaflet from the Trading Post before setting off around the town.
The questions will lead you through churches, castle grounds, hidden corners and streets that have witnessed centuries of stories.
Some answers are obvious.
Others have been quietly waiting for someone to notice them.
Now, before anyone asks...
No.
This isn't the most difficult puzzle we've ever created.
Those of you who survived Chariots can rest easy.
But there is still a little competition.
The first 50 hunters each day to return with every answer correct will receive an exclusive Black Shuck Festival pin badge, available only during this year's festival.
And for the first three hunters each day...
The Guild has quietly put something else aside.
No clues.
You'll simply have to be quick.
Trail leaflets are free, while stocks last.
Why Bungay?
Because if there is one place where Black Shuck still feels close enough to leave fresh footprints, it's here.
The legend has stalked these streets for centuries.
The churches still stand.
The castle still watches over the town.
And every year, for one weekend, the Guild returns to add a few more strange stories to Bungay's long memory.
