From the Dragon Hunter Guild
For months, hunters have trekked across East Anglia, uncovering Snap Dragons hidden in wildflower meadows, alleyway walls, and ruined churches. And while every beast has been a treasure in its own right, one thing has become clear:
Not all dragons are alike.
Some appear often. Some only once. Some change the feel of an entire hunt just by being there. And some… feel like they were never meant to be found at all.
To honour the uniqueness of each beast and deepen the meaning of every encounter, we’re introducing a new system to the Guild:
Snap Dragon Rarities.
🐉 What Is Rarity?
Rarity is more than scarcity. It’s about story, presence, and power. It defines how dragons enter the world — and what happens when they do.
From this day forward, every fully grown Snap Dragon will belong to one of five rarity tiers:
-
🥈 Silver Whisper – Common beasts with uncommon charm
-
🔥 Blazeheart – Elemental, seasonal, and a little unpredictable
-
🌿 Emerald Veil – Myth-wrapped, folklore-born, and deeply symbolic
-
🌊 Tideworn Relic – Ancient creatures that feel like they shouldn’t exist
-
👑 Gilded Crown – Singular legends that reshape the story itself
These tiers reflect how frequently a dragon might appear, how it connects to Guild lore, and what role it may play in our shared mythology.
🛑 Note: Rarity currently applies only to fully grown Snap Dragons.
Snaplings and other Beast types (like Shucks or Snarks) are not yet assigned rarity tiers — though that may change in time.
🧭 Why Does Rarity Matter?
Rarity isn't just for collectors. It’s beginning to shape how hunters interact with the world around them.
In the months ahead, rarity will influence:
-
🧠 Ledger points earned for dragons found in the wild
-
🗺️ Claiming key sites during regional events or seasonal lore arcs
-
📜 Unlocking secrets from Dragon Keepers through trades and knowledge exchanges
-
🔄 Trade value and prestige within the Guild and among collectors
While some of these systems are still taking shape, they will soon become essential to how the Guild operates.
🛑 Important: Points are only awarded for dragons found in the wild. Adopted dragons remain precious, but they won’t affect your score — ensuring the hunt stays fair, adventurous, and rewarding.
📖 How Do I Know My Dragon’s Rarity?
You can now view the full rarity listings in our Rarity Guide. Each dragon is listed under its current tier, with new ones assigned as they’re discovered. Some rarities may shift over time, depending on what the Guild uncovers — or what changes beneath the surface of the land.
Not every dragon wants to stay where it was placed.
🎒 What Now?
You don’t need to change how you hunt — just keep your eyes open. A Silver Whisper can still spark a legend. A Blazeheart might signal a storm. And if you ever stumble across something the Guild hasn't seen before...
Well.
We’ll be watching.
The rarity system is just the beginning of a deeper, wilder, and more layered hunt. As the Guild continues to grow, so too will the ways your dragons shape the world around them.
