When the October winds swept through Norfolk last year, they carried with them the scent of bonfires, fallen leaves, and something stranger, the faint glow of a dragon born from autumn itself. Amongst that turning of the season came a creature unlike any other: the Pumpkin Spice Snap Dragon.
Only thirty were ever forged, making them one of the rarest seasonal dragons in existence. Each was cast by hand in stone resin, painted in warm hues of orange and ember, and finished with quirks that made every piece unique. No two were ever truly alike.
Collectors often speak of them not simply as limited edition dragon statues, but as talismans of the season. The colourway was drawn from harvest lanterns, jack-o’-lantern fires, and the fleeting light of dusk. Their appearance captured both the cosy warmth of autumn and the wilder edge of the festival season, when thresholds between worlds grow thin and strange things stir in the fields.
They sold out in minutes, claimed by collectors almost as quickly as they appeared. Their official description read:
“This Autumn coloured Snap Dragon, could easily hide in amongst a pumpkin patch, out of sight. You are what you eat, and that might just be why he is so bright!”
Yet October did not belong to the Pumpkin Spice alone. Alongside these thirty came something entirely new, our very first Grade V Gilded Crown rarity. The Pumpkin King towered above its kin, not only in detail and finish but in legend. Where the Pumpkin Spice carried the spirit of harvest fires, the Pumpkin King embodied the sovereign of the season itself, crowned in autumn flame and cloaked in the deep magic of October nights.
The Pumpkin Spice Snap Dragon was classified as a Grade I Silver Whisper rarity, yet its scarcity and charm quickly made it a favourite among hunters and collectors alike. You can read their full entry in the Guild Bestiary
The thirty Pumpkin Spice Snaps scattered swiftly across the land, each claimed within hours of release. Many now sit in collections across the country, while others have surfaced again through trades in the Guild of Snap Dragon Hunters, their rarity only heightening their desirability. The Pumpkin King, by contrast, was one of a kind, a singular relic whose legend continues to loom large over every Gilded Crown rarity that followed.
Sadly, these dragons are no longer available to adopt. They were exclusive to October 2024 and will not be returning this year. Their absence is part of their legacy, a reminder that some dragons are meant only for a fleeting moment in time, and once that moment passes, they live on only in collections, in stories, and in memory.
As October approaches once again, the season stirs with the promise of new arrivals. If the Pumpkin Patch gave us both a humble ember and a crowned sovereign, what might the harvest yield this year? Only time will tell what waits in the turning leaves.
